A perfect day of tradewind sailing has brought us 56nm south to Alcaro Bay
just to the north of Cape Don, where we will overnight to wait for the right
conditions to round the cape and make the run into Darwin.
Tidal ranges can be up to 8m and the tidal streams can be strong enough to
stop smaller vessels in their tracks as they move between the many shoals in
this area. We will see what conditions are like in the morning and if
favourable we will make Darwin tomorrow, if not we will overnight about 30
miles short and await the best conditions once more.
