We rounded Cape Wessel at 4.30am this morning after a 44 hour, 345nm passage
from Possession island.
With winds between 10 and 20 kts the trip was reasonably quick and with
winds from the ESE we had to gybe about 20 degrees each side of our rhumb
line, broad reaching on one gybe and goose winged on the other.
Apart from one nasty squall on the first night the passage was trouble free
and once we had left the main Torres Straits area there was no other vessels
sighted on radar or AIS.
We will rest up here overnight and then continue on to Cape Croker tomorrow.
