On our day out motor biking, our guides took us to
some great places. We
went to a
beach that has fresh water permeating through the
rocks that runs
down into the
sea.
There are also small whirlpools in the sand
.....
where a local boy and his friends had a great
time showing us how deep they are
This great rock formation is just off the Panduna
Resort
Our guides also took us to a house where
they hand weave fabrics for wraps, both
men and women use them as sarongs and the
women also use them as shawls.
The fabrics come in all colours and patterns,
the one Noi had a go at working on
was a beautiful black and silver. They
are quite expensive compared to the mass
produced ones sold
in the shops, but each one takes seven days to make. Among her many talents Noi is obviously a natural at hand weaving
One of the more unusual sights was an underground
stream ....
where the villagers bathe, wash their clothes and socialise ....
.... while the kids are swimming, some were even
jumping in from the top
We're not sure why some of the women wear white
paste on their faces (one young
lady is applying hers in photo two) we don't
know if it's make up or sunscreen
