We have come 45nm south west to the largest of the islands in the Galapagos.

From the hustle and bustle of the busy Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz, Villamil is a much smaller, more laid back sort of place with packed sand roads and few amenities.

As we approached the anchorage, five or six Frigate birds hovered above the mast, using the updraft from the sail just to hang in the air. As we entered the natural breakwater formed by the reef, we passed a colony of Galapagos Penguins who at some point in time must have lost their way or being smarter than their southern cousins decided that Antarctica and the Southern Ocean was just way too cold.
