The Journey North

On our journey up the east coast of Malaysia we saw a few unusual sights
Birds that thought we were one of the many fishing boats and followed us for
miles expecting a free meal
Islands that were only visible at low tide
And seas that unexpectedly changed colour, we expected the depth to
change too but it didn't

This colour change is due to rivers bringing silt down into the sea
We stayed overnight in one of these rivers, at 9.30pm the current was flowing
at 3.3 knots
For the last month we have had very little wind and what there has been has
been on the bow, forcing us to motor all the way from the Ria Islands in
Northern Indonesia
This is not a great cruising area, although the historic cities of Malacca and
George Town on Penang are great attractions
We hope for better winds as we head further north to Langkawi and beyond
to Phuket in Thailand
