It has come to the attention of the captain and crew of CURIOUS that some
grade 6/7 students of David Bird in Maple Ridge, British Columbia have been
following our Pacific passage. We three, Steve, Chris, and myself Glenn,
send our hellos and good wishes to all of you.

We are currently heading on a course of 268 degrees (almost due west) and
are about 1,400 miles east of the Marquesa Islands, which are our
destination. On this leg of the passage we have sailed westward about 1,500
miles from the Galapagos Islands in the past 8 days. The Marquesas are the
furthest landfall from any continent on earth, making this one of the
longest open-water passages in the world, almost 3,000 miles.

Life onboard CURIOUS is generally quite comfortable, however the three of us
do miss our families and friends very much and long to sleep in a bed that
does not rock and roll! The seas (waves) can be as much as 20 feet high and
cause the boat to roll and pitch. One of the most impressive sites out here
is at night, looking at the sky. It is amazing to see so many stars in the
night sky.

Study hard kids, and remember that you can "live your dream" if you really
want to.

Glenn, Penticton, British Columbia
Chris, Scunthorpe, England
Steve, Manchester, England

May the Maple Ridge Beast continue to roar, the winds be fair and your sails
always full.
