We are now in Cascais at the entrance to the Rio Tejo and
will take a day out to visit Lisbon by train tomorrow.
The trip from Povoa was pretty straightforward if a little rolly
but gave us some idea of what the ARC crossing will be like.
Both Povoa and Figueira de Foz and Nazare where we stopped
overnight had a strange feel to them. A bit like Blackpool in winter,
as though they were waiting for something to happen or at least the start of
the tourist season. Given that it is mid June their season must be very short
and you can only wonder at how the hotels and restaurants make a living from a
couple of hectic months?
We continue to see dolphins on a daily basis and have
captured some great video footage of them playing in the bow wave.
We are now ahead of schedule and have only four of five days
sailing to get to Gibraltar so will take a short “holiday” in Lagos
where there is a very good marina with all the facilities of a large hotel.
