We arrived in Penang yesterday--well organised,
though small, marina in the middle of a large shopping mall---with a Tesco round
the corner!!
More importantly it's ten minutes by bus from the
centre of Georgetown--a town with a lot of history and the old part well
preserved. We'll go in today and see.
The trip up was uneventful--as seems to be the case
here, too much of it was under engine. We stopped and anchored for a night on
the way up--water is shallow well offshore, so we were anchored in 4 metres of
water about 3 miles from the nearest land!! Waters are calm enough, and if it
had blown up--which it didn't--we would just have moved on.
Plan to stay here for Xmas--and probably new
year--though the lack of a pool here and the attraction of Langkawi beaches and
waters may alter our plans!!
