last set off on 10 July around 1600 for a cross channel sail to
Trebeurden--in all about 150 miles. The AIS worked like a treat in the
shipping lanes--takes all the suspense and guesswork out of it!!
We arrived in Trebeurden next day around 1300--just in time for lunch--and
then a siesta as neither of us got much sleep the previous night.
On the 13th we sailed to L'Aber-wrac'h--in a rising wind and we entered
the rock-strewn river at great speed in 25+knots of wind. We picked up the
last free mooring buoy (even the blind chicken sometimes finds a seed)and
were nicely tucked up just as the torrential rain started.
Next morning, no rain and a lot less wind--we sailed to Camaret-sur-Mer--a
good marina and no problem finding space. So nice we spent an extra day
before continuing to Benodet on the 16th. Moored on the Ste Marine side of
the river--well organised marina, met by a nice youngster in the dory who
led us to a nice big hammerhead pontoon and took our lines--all marinas
should be like this!!! Lovely setting, beautiful river, good restaurants,
we had to stay an extra day.
And today a very short sail round to Concarneau--only a couple of hours
and we were nicely moored up before noon. And the sun is shining at last.
