Well here we are in probably our last port in France--La Rochelle--where
we plan to spend a few days before setting off for Spain. Weather much
improved--sunny but with cooling winds. We spent a lovely couple of days
in St Martin on the Ile de Re--hired bikes and cycled over half the
island. La Dolce Vita. When we arrived the harbour was pretty full--mostly
British boats and rafted six out-- so that evening we gathered for a
drink--or two--on one of the boats. Next day most of them left--we stayed
and no one arrived--so we had no rafting and a quiet night.
Yesterday a short fast sail down to La Rochelle--moored in the Minimes
marina--enormous--and today we spent enjoying the City--lots of people,
street musicians--quite a buzz.
We've rented a car for the next couple of days--see a bit of the
countryside and visiting some friends who live not too far away on Sunday.
Spain sometime next week if we get favourable--or at least not
unfavourable--winds.
