After a few days in St Martin--great place to stock up, all duty free--and best chandlers I've seen anywhere-- we crossed to Anguilla yesterday. Lovely crossing--winds were down on the strong winds of the last week or more--swell was down--sun,sun,sun--beautiful shades of blue water--and a fast beam reach in 12 to 15 knots wind--marvellous, but only an 18 mile trip, so soon over!!
Anguilla is lovely--Road Bay, where we are anchored has a lovely beach--despite the commercial quay on a bit of it. The anchorage is good and the water great for swimming. We went on a tour of the island by taxi today and saw most of it in 3 hours! Lots of wonderful beaches and the development is high quality/low rise/low density--hope they keep it that way--it's so much more pleasnt than the over-developed St Martin. Tomorrow we plan to visit some of the protected marine parks--you have to pick up a mooring--no anchoring--need a permit and can't stay overnight--need to return to Road Bay.
All well on board.
