Had a lovely sail from Malapais to Bahia Herradura. Most of these 25nm, we could fly the spinnaker! We hadn't used it in months and it was wonderful to see it again.
We left this morning with two Belgian guests, Marie and Jochen. Jochen and his friend might be coming for the Pacific crossing and this is the first part of our trial sail.
He had also lend us his quad bike yesterday and we had a lovely little land excursion to Montezuma, a cute little hippie/tourist village, and a hike to a huge waterfall.

This sailing day was best to show someone the wonderful sailing world (Marie had never stepped on a sailing boat before).
Just coming around Cabo Blanco, before entering the long crossing from the northern to the southern end of the Golfo de Nicoya, we saw lots of dolphins - and then a whale. Breaching really close to Andromeda! Unfortuantely, I was just putting away my camera under deck and missed it, but heard the other screaming in joy and amazement.
We saw it later again really close for a moment, but most under water. Still truly amazing.

The sail was rather smooth with a light steady wind from behind and the beautiful spinnaker sail in the front. Unfortunately, the anchorage is a little bit rolly and truly hope, that our guests will cope well with the rocking on their first night on board.

It's only 8.30 and everybody is in bed already after a long and eventful day that ended with a yummy Mahi Mahi filet, fried plantains, chayuca, rice and beans. Since the boys hadn't been successfully fishing, Marie and I took the bikini to the fancy Marina in the bay. We had seen at least 15 sports fisherman going in at the end of the day. And lucky enough, we found a nice gentleman who was happy to give us some filets from today's catch! Surely helped that we were still wearing our bikinis...
