After leaving Palamut we stopped at three bays before we
arrived here in Bencik Bay. We have had lots of wind, Meltemi is blowing now, so
good sailing for the short distances we did, we managed 8+ kts at one
stage!.
Very windy night in Karga Bay, subsequently we did not
get much sleep. It is a lovely big bay, so we free anchored for a chance. The
water was beautifully clear and cool, so the swimming was good.
In Kuruca Buku we were better sheltered from wind,
again nice cool clear water. We then spotted a nice bay, Armak Bay and went
in to stop for coffee, but decided to spend the night, the scenery was stunning.
No other yachts, just a few gullets. Again it good very windy during the night
with the wind blowing down the hills. We were well tied on, so we did manage to
sleep. The down side was we were pestered by biting flies; we must have killed
hundreds!
Bencik is a long deep bay where we stopped with Kirsten
on Kamita 10 years ago. Good shelter, but many more boats; mainly brand-new
yachts with American flags and Turkish owners. Two days here, time to do so
relaxing and maintenance, this is a nice place for it.
Marti Marina is just across the bay where we will pick
up Maria Nooij.
