We have had two nights in Raratonga sofar and would
have liked to stay a week. It is a lovely relaxed place with super friendly
people. Unfortunately their harbour is not ideal for yachts, the winds have
gradually got stronger and stronger, which have made our stay a bit
uncomfortable (and nerve wrecking for me). We are anchored stern to with lines
onshore, well away from the quay wall, so we need to use the dinghy to go
ashore. We have not been able to do the walk across the island nor the scooter
ride around the island. We have done all the formalities and provisioning today
and plan to leave early tomorrow. It is going to be a fast and wet sail to Niue,
another 4/5 day passage. Not looking forward to this one, but it will be unsafe
to stay in this harbour. Will keep you posted.
