We entered Chesapeak Bay early this morning. We
are motoring along to Norfolk, where we will get a slip (berth) with fellow
members of the Ocean Cruising Club. It is a long way, we will not get there
until some time this afternoon. But there is plenty to see. Norfolk is a major
US navy base. We have passed or been passed by many war ships and just now a big
submarine went past us with escort.
Yesterday we had an interesting day. Mixed
motoring and sailing, but we saw whales, three different species of dolphins at
different times and even a shark cruising off the stern of the boat. The dolpins
were bottlenose, common and spotted atlantic. We did not catch any fish though.
It was very exciting to see the dolphins particularly as they came bowriding
with us. We tried to take some photos.
![]() We are looking forward to arriving at
our berth. It has taken us a good week to get here with the lack of wind, but it
was enjoyable.
