We had a great time on Bonaire, it is a lovely
island (little Holland). We enjoyed the happy hours with bitter ballen. We were
sad to leave on Monday 1st feb. Had a great sail (clocked 9.9 knots) until we
realized that we had failed to check out with customs and immigration. After
some discussion we decided it was wise to turn back. Having sailed out for 2 hrs
it took us 5 hrs to get back. Fortunately we got back on a mooring buoy before
dark. So we had another happy hour with bitterballen and another excellent meal
on shore. We were more successful the next day and had a very pleasant sail to
Curacao.
We met up with Chris and Geraldine on Scorch and
their friends on Witte Raaf, Jan and Janneke. It was great to catch up with
them. There is always so much to talk about.
We met up with Jorgen (Susanna's boyfriend) by
accident at the bus station in town after we had checked in with immigration and
customs. Gerda, Steef, Stefan and Susanne arrived in the evening of the 4th and
we all got together on the 5th. It is so nice to all be together and for us to
be able to share places that we visit.
BBQ on board Sea Topaz tonight, so I have to get on
with some preparations.
