Working on the boat

Time flies when you are having fun. It also does when you are working hard. There is so much to do and so little time to do it in. But we are getting there. The rudder and propeller have been taken off, the cutlass bearing and deep-sea seal replaced and all put back together again.

Duncan has finished sanding the bottom and is now treating the patches that are bare steel. This is all in preparation for painting the hull with one coat of primer and two coats of anti-foul. It should then last us a few years. I have stripped the varnish off most of the wood in the companion way and am now building up the layers again. Fortunately the weather has been brilliant the last few days and we could not ask for better surroundings.

But tomorrow we are off again for a few days for a break. This time to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Shenandoah National Park.
