On the 7th May we flew from Phuket to Changmai where we stayed in the Rich Lanna House Hotel. This is a lovely new boutique hotel within the walls of the Old City. We spend a few days visiting temples, markest and enjoyed excellent food. We joined a cookery class for a day, which included a visit to the cleanest market we have seen in Asia. We both enjoyed it. We also met up with some old time regimental friends. Ian Bushell invited us for supper in his lovely house, where we met his wife and son. We also enjoyed a game of golf, even though it was pretty hot. Then on Monday Johnny Bird came to collect us for a four hour drive to his wonderful house near Tak. We had a good time chatting, eating excellent food and another game of golf in a beautiful setting near a big dam. We did manage 18 holes this time as we used golf buggies.
On May 14, late afternoon we flew back to Phuket. There we had just one day sorting things on the boat, before flying to UK very late on May 15th.
