We had a good sail almost all the way to Santubong, Kuching.
We stopped off the island of Satang Besar, which is a turtle sanctuary. Unfortunately we did not go ashore as the weather was very threatening. Just before we dark the storm hit us and we were on a lee shore. We were too close to the shore we found out when the rudder hit the reef. With some difficulty we managed to re-anchor further out and sit out the storm, which was a bit one. The holding was very good, so we felt safe enough. After two hours it stopped and we could relax and have some supper.
The next morning we went up the river and we are now anchored off Santubong. Beautiful setting. We arrived with an American boat and managed to arrange to check in with authorities together with them.
This was very fortunate as it turned out that Roger had picked up the Tilley hat Duncan had lost in Danga Bay several weeks ago. He was very gracious and gave it back to Duncan. What luck!

On Sunday we went to the weekend market in Kuching (which is about an hour's drive from the anchorage). This was great, we managed to get lots of food. We also had a look around town.
Yesterday Tim and Maggie Stokes arrived. Today we went to visit the Sarawak Cultural village, which was very informative and enjoyable. We also watched a wonderful dance performance.
It is Maggie's birthday today so we'll go out for supper tonight.
We'll be here a few more days.
