We finally managed to leave Pangkor Marina. Because of the tides we opted to sail overnight. We choose a beautiful night with a full moon and no rain, unfortunately also no wind, so we motored all the way. The new gear box worked well. We arrived in Straits Quay Marina around 9.30 in the morning. This marina is not so much a working marina, it is more for show to go with the nice apartments that surround the basin. But very comfortable with nice showers and good internet.
We took the bus into town to sort out visas for Thailand and to get more chemicals from "Dr Death". We had a fabulous buffet lunch at the Eastern Oriental Hotel and even got a generous discount for Senior Citizens. We did not need supper after that.
Today we had to go back into town to look for a Makita battery charger for the drill, which has died. It has worked so hard over the last few months.
We got back to the boat before the rain; it has been grey and wet all afternoon, but much cooler.
We'll have another day to potter on the boat tomorrow and then move to Langkawi on Monday. Again, the tide is not favorable, so we'll go overnight.
