As you can guess we did not get away from Savu savu
as soon as we had planned. The 24v batteries issue was more serious than we
thought and we had to go for new ones. Also the work on the generator took more
time (as it always does).
We had an interesting day out with Steve to visit
his village and his estate. We learned a lot about Fijian village life. Steve
also came on board Sea Topaz for a meal and he learned about our
life.
We left our secure mooring buoy on the 16th Aug.
Spent two nights anchored off the Cousteau resort not far away and did some
snorkeling and swimming to get into the swing of cruising again. Since then we
had a great sail to Fawn Harbour, a bay all by ourselves and today we came
inside Rainbow reef and are now anchored in Viani Bay. Not ideal, we are on a
lee shore and we'll find out tomorrow when we leave if the anchor/chain is
rapped around some coral. Fingers crossed. It is a night sail from here to our
first island in the Lau Group.
Fresh Coconut
juice, very refreshing
