Our last evening at North Button Island we went back to the beach and lit a fire to burn some of our rubbish. We took a cold bottle of sparkling wine and some nibbles and watched the sunset. Unfortunately we got bitten to death by sand flies, which does not really show until the next day, when we both had very itchy legs. We lifted anchor from early next morning and motored north to Sound Island about 40 miles. At first it was fine, but then the wind picked up and it was not very comfortable to batch into the waves. We caught a King Mackerel early on; this one we put back. Then when we were almost at our destination and when we were actually sailing did we catch a big Wahoo.
After we anchored in a bay off Sound Island, nicely tucked away out of the waves and wind, Duncan contacted Port Control Maya Bandar to be told that we were not permitted to anchor there. He persuaded the gentleman that it was too late to move and that we were very tired. So he allowed us to stay as long as we moved the next morning. We had a very quiet night.
