After paying our bills this morning and Duncan going
into the water again with the diving bottle to clean the bow thruster prop (we
had a plastic bag caught in it), we were ready to leave. As soon as the pilot
was on board we were off; ready or not, the boat boy just undid all the lines.
Apart from that all went well. The pilot was a very easy going person. There was
not much traffic on the canal; the south bound traffic was just thinning out
when we left and the north bound traffic was not due until 13.30 from Suez. So
it was just the super yacht and us. It took us about seven hours to get to
Ismalia, which is half way. There was a lot of dredging activity and the
building of a second canal.
In Ismail we tied up along side the wall at the Yacht
Club and had pizza for supper. We checked out at Suez so we are not allowed on
shore.
Tomorrow all being well, we'll set off for the second
half and then into the Med!!!
