We have arrived safe and well in Hiva Oa. We
managed to arrive in daylight. We have been very lucky with the wind during the
whole of the trip.
Atuna in Taaoa Bay is a lovely place, with
beautiful jungle scenery. There are quite a few boats here, but nobody made a
fuss of us having done the trip from the Galapagos, they have all done it
themselves. But we were very proud of ourselves. "When was the last time you did
something for the first time?" We have a bow and stern anchor down, which
we are just about to check as it is a bit of a nightmare here to get your anchor
out when you leave. Amazingly the first boat we saw anchored was "All the
Colours" and Australian family we met in Turkey, Marmaris several years ago.
They very kindly helped us with our stern anchor. We will check in with the
Gendarmerie on Monday, they are not open over the weekend. So we will be here
for a few days and will get some photographs for the next
installment.
We have enjoyed the luxury of sleeping together at
the same time in a bed that did not move, without having to get up every three
hours!!
