We are still in Tahaaku bay. We have been busy
doing the washing and getting water by jerry cans from the tap on the dinghy
dock. We spent hours cleaning the hull, which was in a terrible state. We have
walked into town a couple of times and found the baguettes and French cheese,
amongst other things. Today we did a trip with a local lady in her four wheel
drive to Puamau on the other side of the island. We went there to see an old
archeological site. It was a long drive through jungly terrain, but it was
interesting and we had a wonderful lunch with local food.
So we feel we have had a good taste of the island.
We will do some more food shopping tomorrow and a few more jobs and then set off
for Fatu Hiva, one of the other islands, first thing Thursday
morning.
