We have arrived safely in Culebra after 10 full
days at sea. We are tired, but safe and very glad to be here. After the first
few days of wind we had several days of no wind at all, so we motored. We got
the fishing rods out, but only caught one Mahi Mahi, two got away. We
then caught a Blue Marlin on the last day. Duncan did really well getting
that on board. We let it go after I took some photographs, or so I thought; the
camera was on the wrong setting...
The weather got warmer and the shorts and t-shirts
came out.
We did have a few technical hitches on the way. The
auto helm stopped working; Duncan took the motor off and cleaned it up, which
did the trick. Shortly after that the wheel just went around but we kept going
in a straight line: the steering rod had come loose. Again Duncan took the tools
out and sorted that one. A couple of days later the engine overheated as a fan
belt had broken and another one had come loose. Again Mr Fix-it did his magic.
The last thing was that the generator would not start. This was particularly
enjoying as a lot of work had been done to that in the boat yard.
But now we are enjoying being in the sun at anchor
and catching up with ourselves.
