From Narrabri we drove via country roads to
Warwick; back in Queensland. We were again treated to fabulous views and stopped
for lunch in Texas (pretty dead on a Saturday afternoon).
Warwick was a lovely place and we stayed in a
brand-new cabin. We walked along the Condamine river and saw the evidence of the
severe floods they had there. The debris was still stuck in the branches 10
meter above our heads.
On Sunday we drove to Brisbane via Toowoomba, which
was very badly hit by the inland tsunami. People have done a fantastic jobs
cleaning the place up, we loved it. On the way down through the Lockyer Valley
we did see some evidence of the floods, as well as along the river in Brisbane.
In the evening we met up for supper with Robin and Jeff Murdocks, friends we
knew in Zimbabwe and who we had not see for about 18 yrs. We had a great evening
catching up with each others news.
This morning we collected our new dinghy from Swift
Marine, looks good. We managed to fit it on the roof of the already fully laden
car. We made our way gently up the coast and are spending our last night in
Tewantin, Noosa Heads; very much a holiday resort. Tomorrow back to Bundaberg
and Sea Topaz!!
