So this morning we moved as instructed by port
control, who was very helpful indeed. We are now anchored off the commercial
jetty. We took the dinghy ashore and were met by the local police who needed our
details and see some papers. They then took us to the port control office where
we met the gentleman we talked to on the phone. He explained where we can anchor
in the area and where to watch out for crocodiles. We then walked into the small
town and met some very friendly people. What we did not realise until it was too
late that it is the holiday of "Holy" today when they put colored paint powder
on people's faces and hair. We did not escape and caused the locals much
merriment. We found a simple place for lunch, took a tuk-tuk back and bought
some fresh fruit and vegetables. The tide range is more than 2 m at the moment
so we were lucky that we could just manage to get back in the dinghy, it was so
low off the steps.
