Finally some wind to sail and almost in the right
direction; We had a good sail from Rhodes to Simi. We got into Panormitis Bay
late afternoon not expecting as many boats as there were in the bay, but we did
manage to find a good spot with only 1.6 m under the keel. It is a pretty bay
with a large monastery. We walked around the bay early evening and enjoyed the
views. We stayed two nights before moving on to a more quiet bay: Marathonda
(still on Simi). We had the bay to ourselves overnight; but had various boats
come and go giving us some entertainment with their anchoring antics.
There are a large number of Turkish sailing boats now; many of them
registered in Delaware and flying the American flag. Many of them are still
learning...
Our last stop was Gialos; Simi's harbour. We had been
there 11 yrs ago and remembered how exciting it can get in there with crossed
anchors, but we were lucky, we managed to get in and out without anchor
problems. Again we stayed two days and enjoyed the ambiance and the excellent
food.
