We left Pulau Derawan at 06.00 hrs. For the first time since I cannot remember when did we have a really good sail with 15 to 20 knots for about 24 hours. So we made good time to get to the north coast of Sulawesi. We arrived here at around 11 o'clock, but it took us more than an hour to find a safe place to anchor. Although this is a lovely big sheltered bay it is too deep and it took us some time, carefully feeling our way around to find suitable depths to anchor in. Fortunately the water is very clear so it is not difficult to see the reefs and shallow water. This is probably what it is going to be like for the next month or so while we are in Sulawesi. Tomorrow we'll leave early to carry on along the coast. The distances are great.
