We drove along the long and boring road for many
hours, but it was worth it. A fascinating place. Again full of history, we
visited some old opal mines and a working one. We also did buy some opals, not
many as I do not really like them. We visited the desert at sunset to get the
photos of the red sand and hills and the moon landscape. Unfortunately they have
had a fair amount of rain this year so the desert was green as far as you could
see... Very unusual, so we were lucky to see it, but did not get the photo's we
were hoping for. We met some interesting people of all kinds of
nationalities.
We stayed in an hotel with underground rooms, nice
and cool and interesting.
Today we drove back to Port Augusta and then
started heading east in the direction of Sydney. We are spending the night in a
small town called Orroroo; very friendly people.
