The Musto oilies had to come out of the
lockers again. They are just brilliant, kept the water out and protected us
against the cold winds. We had two nights and three days of strong winds,
fortunately from behind so we were moving along at a nice speed with very little
sail up. We did get wet from the occasional wave slapping against the hull and
plenty of rain. It is quite tiring sailing as you have to be alert all the time
even though Humphrey (our Hydrovane) is doing all the steering. This seem to be
the sort of conditions Sea Topaz likes best. But we are through the front
now, more gentle and relaxed sailing today in easier seas. The sun is out again,
which gives us a chance to dry things.
We have 172 nm to go, we hope to be in Niue
Sat/Sun.
