We are on a mooring buoy outside the Bora Bora Yacht Club, a famous spot in the cruising world. We arrived the day before yesterday after a lively sail from Raiatea/Tahaa. After so many days of little or no wind we got the wind alright, 35 kts at times and the seas to go with it. We came through the Bora Bora pass with 28 kts on the beam. It did mean though that we had a quick passage.
The last few days in Tahaa were interesting. We stopped at Taotao Motu to do some snorkeling in the "coral river" near a very smart hotel. We beached the dinghy on the sand, then walked along the water to the head of the stream, where we entered the water. It was a fantastic experience to be taken by the current through the coral heads with lots of colored fish all around you. Duncan did it three times, he enjoyed it so much.
That evening we took a mooring buoy off Taravana Yacht Club where we had a super meal with a local dancing group performing, including fire dancing. We then danced ourselves to the disco music they provided until later in the evening.
We spent our last day at Apooiti marina on Raiatea to do the laundry (at great expense), fill up with water and do some provisioning before setting off for Bora Bora.
We will stay here for a few days until the weather settles and then go and explore around the island to check out some anchorages.
