We have been in Labuan Bajo for a few days now. We had a stop at Gili Bodo before we got here. We walked on the beach and did some snorkeling, again lovely coral.
Labuan Bajo is a lot more touristy than what we have seen sofar. It is a popular place for divers. Plenty of tour shops and nice restaurants. We have enjoyed pizza again, although we really enjoy the Indonesian food, this was a nice change. We have also been able to stock up an a few things food wise.
Yesterday we did a tour, which involved two dives and a visit to Rinca Island to see the Komodo Dragons. I went along to snorkel. The tour started more than an hour late. I was carried away by the current and picked up by another boat as our boat got a rope caught in the propeller, had engine failure and had to drop anchor which they then could not get up. This took at least two hours. Duncan's group was left adrift more more than half an hour while they tried to get the anchor up. The diving itself was good, but we were too late really to see much of the Komodo Dragons. We saw a few asleep. So not a great day all in all. We got back well after dark. Not too many safety features on this tour.
Today we managed to get more diesel and drinking water and some fruit and veg in the market. We just have to collect the laundry and have a last meal ashore and then we carry on again to explore some of the islands here.
