No, we are not in the water yet, but we did managed to get away on our trip around New Zealand. The first two nights we stopped at Taupo, then went on to Wellington where we caught the ferry to Picton on South Island. We spent a few nights in Nelson, where we caught up with some friends. We have worked our way further south, staying in Top 10 holiday camps on the way. We have all the camping gear with us in the car and stay in self contained units where we can cook our own meals, have our own bathroom etc. The weather had been extremely kind to us sofar.
We have made it as far south as Te Anau, where we joined a group of 40 trampers (as they call them here) to walk the Milford Track. It was hard work, but worth it. Four days of carrying our own packs going over a high pass and then down again staying in huts on the way. We carried our own food and cooking pots. When we got back we took a cruise on Milford Sound. Amazing scenery!
We are now in Queenstown walking around like two old folks; we are very stiff. We hope to be fit again for 4 days of cycling on the Otanga rail trail next.
