We arrived safely late yesterday afternoon
(Tuesday) after two days of battling into waves and wind, so we were very glad
to sail into the Bay of Islands and calmer waters. It has not been one of our
better passages, but it is great to be in a marina again and safely tied up. We
were checked by immigration, customs and health and also dogs to check for
drugs and fire arms. People were very nice and helpful, they did not take too
much food away and let me keep my shells, which I was relieved about. Then some
friends who got here before us welcomed us on the pontoon.
Today we washed the boat, well part of it, booked
ourselves into the various activities and parties that are organised by the
rally. We still have to get on with laundry and loads of other stuff. We will
stay here for a week or so, maybe a bit later till the end of the parties and
prize giving. Then to Whangerei for the haul out and more work.
We had the stay sail up for a
while
It was very wet and cold the last few days
