We left Hamptons and sailed up Chesapeake Bay. No sooner that we were in the bay we noticed another catamaran behind us looking familiar, and found that it was our friends Charli and Andy on Avalon whom we’d met on Hogs Island, Bahamas. We sailed in company and chatted up the bay.
Stunning sunset as we arrived to anchor overnight at Mill Creek in the Patuxent River
Chesapeake Bay is wide with steep sandstone banks in some areas
En-route laundry........
Arriving at Saint Michaels on the Miles River, we were treated to an awesome sunset
Going ashore in Saint Michaels we were pleased to see that they had Mandatory Face Masks required
We were awed at the cute houses, Bed and Breakfasts, parks and historical village
Saint Michaels church with bells that toll every quarter hour
Many ‘tourist’ shops selling Nautical bits and bobs
USPS, a historical building where they kindly allowed us to open a postal box to receive our Amazon parcels
Our postal box, 731, an original brass USPS box
The town is quiet Monday to Thursday with very few residents, then on Friday the hoards arrive both by boat and vehicle and the village swells
I love these ducks.... had to buy me a ‘Clever Duck’
The village hotel and marina, with boats beginning to fill up
Up the Wye River trying our hand at Crab Netting, without luck
This was an interesting sight, a dinghy under a hand-glider. First time we’ve ever seen this.
