All the Cruising Guides and Tourist Books say that the place to be on a Friday night is at Gouyave, a town on the West coast which has a Fish BBQ with tables in the streets, and where locals, tourists and cruisers flock to to enjoy a night out with the freshest of fish, local beer and island cocktails.
We arrived and anchored close to the Fisherman dock so we could get ashore easily.
Rows of colorful fishing boats
Ashore, informative Marine information
Local Sailing School
Lovely well restored Church
Many quaint and interesting shops
As night settled in, we found that the “Fish Friday” was something only applicable to locals, with the Vendors bypassing us in the line, and choosing to only serve locals, saying that there was ‘Not Enough’ for tourists and that locals had ordered earlier in the day. We ended up going back and cooking on Meshugga.
Another Church, this one still under repair.
Oh Well, that’s Cruising sometimes you win and sometimes you don’t.
Take Care
