We left Trinidad late afternoon and did the piracy area run with full sails and both motors. A full moon helped us ‘see’ if any movement was near us, but the same moon would also help Pirates ‘see’ our sails.... Stressful but thankfully uneventful, and we passed Grenada early morning and kept on sailing north to St Martin.

The remaining passage, was with light winds and at a slow pace.

A few days later we entered the Lagoon via the Simpson Bay Lifting Bridge on the St Maarten side.

We anchored Meshugga in the Lagoon, and set about getting her prepped to stay alone.

Cute kids learning to sail Opi’s close to Meshugga in the Lagoon.

Early in the cruising season, the anchorage area was largely open with only a few other yachts near us, although we were surrounded by marinas with a few huge GinPalaces.
