WE have travelled the width of the Gulf of Carpentaria to Gove peninsula. It is Arnhem Land here plus a huge Bauxite mine dominating the landscape.

The crossing was harder towards the west and the seas were rough. Although we were on watches at night, it was difficult to sleep as the waves were hitting us broadside which made the starboard side very noisy and bumpy. But we made it and completed the 350 miles in 55 hours. WE are staying here for a day at least and then onto Darwin.

Looking forward to getting there.
