We have just left a little piece of paradise. In fact we had to stay an
extra day because we enjoyed it so much. In the village, we were entertained by
a very old village elder who we think was the chief. He showed us around the
small streets and the church. He even complained that there were too many shops
in the village(!) and every one else we met seemed to be related to him. His
name is Silas and he is 87 years old.
WE also visited a New Zealand farm, where we met Brenda and Kevin. They
told us about their island holiday home which is a working farm as well as in a
fantastic spot. When they are in New Zealand running their main farm and
butchery business, the have a farm manager called Jolly who looks after it.
This is a lovely place to visit but now it is time to move on and we are
heading due South to New Caledonia, a journey of just under 400 miles. So two or
three nights at sea and then a new country. All well on board with Patrick
adding some French style and humour. |
