Had a long lie this morning and left at 7.30am and pointed ourselves
towards the Whitsundays. These are popular sailing grounds and we expect to see
lots of charter boats. Hopefully we will find a quiet place to park up for a
night or two. The plan is to rest for at least two days before continuing.
We had to go through Solway Pass – it was like sailing through treacle as
the tide was low and the current against us. Through the pass we were down to
1.1 kts but the speedo said 5.3kts!! Look at the photos.
Passed a beautiful white sand beach on way to Haslewood Island where we
stopped for the night. It was a beautiful bay with only one other boat around.
Treacle water!!
That’s one way to park the boat!! |
