Iceland has some interesting road signs, not seen elsewhere:
Yes, they really do go diving here. In fact they cross this road I n their hundreds, in dive in a narrow part of the mid-Atlantic rift in a lake, so that you can touch both continents at once with arms outstretched. Visibility is about 100m, but there is no life to speak of.
Or there was this, I really know not why:
All I can think of is that the vegetation is very very fragile, and that walking around building cairns will seriously damage it, but all there was is this sign so you have to guess the reason.
And no Blog about Iceland could possibly be regarded as complete without a picture of an Icelandic horse. So here is one:

There are thousands of these things, smaller, gentler and more friendly than the normal in the UK, descended from ponies introduced from Norway by the Vikings. They have an amazing and unique gait, quite unlike any other horse, which has to be seen to be believed, and the purity of the breed is very strictly protected by the government.
