En route to Prins Christian Sund From Qaqortoq VS visited two other towns, Nanortalik and Frederiksdal. Cloud was low for a while, but when it cleared the views were impressive:

Above, Mahimahi under sail, with temperature inversion above her.
The spiky peak in the distance is about 1200m:

Here is Nanortalik:

And this is Frederiksdal:

This lady is the schoolteacher, born in the village but did her teacher training in Denmark. She has a total of five children in her care; rural villages here are declining as in Scotland, for the same reasons - young people prefer life in a town to that in a remote village.

The view of the hills above the town from the anchorage. This is looking into the valley of Frederiksdal; note the cwm/corrie/cirque in the centre. The light blue patch is snow which has compacted into ice and is a mini-glacier. It is quite amazing how little snow is required to start a glacier. The iceberg in the foreground has hit a rock and is stuck in the harbour entrance - a bit worrying because it will break up there and the bits may well drift into the harbour. Luckily it didn't happen while we were there.

This view disappeared into fog and rain a few minutes after we arrived, never to re-emerge. And this is summer.
