Fiji's coral reefs are in quite good condition by
world standards, though somewhat overfished. Here is a typical bit:
 As you can see this is just below the surface and
all these corals are alive. It's difficult to credit that everything you can see
is made of limestone secreted by tiny creatures related to sea anemones and
despite the convoluted and intricate shapes is hard, rigid and often
sharp.
