Peacefully at anchor in a beautiful bay at lovely Williams Island, an uninhabited small island off the SA coast, waiting for wind to fill in. Watching the sea lions basking on the rocks in the sunshine. Can’t go swimming because this is Great White Shark country (Port Lincoln is the centre of the Australian cage diving industry, where one goes diving with Great Whites, up close and personal). This is peak shark season (the sealion pups which make a tasty snack for a shark are in the water now) so tried to go at ruinous expense, but would you believe the sharks have all been frightened off by a large pod of orcas (which somewhat surprisingly eat the sharks). The encounter was witnessed by one of the dive boats two weeks ago; not a shark seen since. But they’ve gone somewhere, so swimming in this lovely clear water next to the sealions is a real no-no.
Still looking good for a departure later today.
