All work and no play

Our guests have departed and we're on our own for a
while, so it's time to catch up on repairs and maintenance of which the
boat requires a quite astonishing amount. I'm seen here polishing the topsides
having just spent the best part of two days polishing the natty blue line on the
hull (or more precisely, the half of it on the starboard side). the polishing of
fibreglass and stainless steel is endless but essential if the boat is to retain
its condition. I have also summoned up the courage to tackle re-caulking a few
of the deck seams with a very very sticky mastic applied from a gun. I have been
putting this off for ages through fear of disaster, but it turns out to be
really easy.
We're off to St Kitts & Nevis (pronounced
Neevis - a corruption of the Spanish for 'snow', the name given to it by
Columbus) first thing tomorrow with lots of polishing left undone. It's just
like the Augean Stables, but with no helpful stream to divert.
