More steady progress in lovely sailing conditions. We’d be going really well if only we had a nice big mainsail.
Trade Winds continuing to misbehave - steady, as they should be, but light and locked in the E/ESE when they should be stronger and E/ENE around here. This makes a big difference to us. We are very underpowered in light winds, and cannot fly our third sail unless the wind is on or ahead of the beam - and we can’t fly the big cruising chute because that would take us to the SW. So we’ll just have to plod slowly on. Fridge and freezer looking quite empty now, but only a few days to go.
We have sunshine again; saw the sun set yesterday for the first time since leaving South Africa. And I have discovered that at this latitude one can see both the Southern Cross and the Plough in the night sky at the same time. Amazing.
DTG 387nm. ETA Tuesday during the day, if the wind holds (amazingly, it is forecast to get even lighter).
