Catching the bus

Fiji has an excellent public transport system.
There are lots and lots of taxis (cheap and very cheerful) and a network of bus
services of various standards.
The bus below, seen here outside the shopping mall
in central Suva) is a third class one - it has no windows. Second class
buses have windows, and first class (which go only to the airport 200km from the
capital) have air conditioning. The third class buses seem to be
maintained only when they break down - a common sight. But they're dirt cheap
and very popular, so the passengers put up with the delay with typical Fijian
good humour.
