We're now briefly here in Casco Bay as an overnight stop after a very frustrating trip - as so often here there just wasn't enough wind to sail. And when we came to leave Monhegan we found that the anchor chain had somehow knotted itself. It took us two hours to get the anchor itself up onto the deck in rder to undo the knot. It is a complete mystery to me how the anchor, while lying on the seabed, could manage to pass not just one, but two loops of chain over itself. I'd have said it was impossible.
And now it's raining; but last night we had dinner in the cockpit watching five ospreys fishing.
